John wesley turner

A year ago, DFFM board member David Allen (retired Cedar Hill BC and son of DFD DC Tom "Junior" Allen) discovered an old newspaper article about a DFD firefighter, John Wesley Turner responded from old station 22 to a working fire on his birthday, July 12 1954 and died of a possible heart attack while fighting the fire. We had no record of this. David followed up with more research, consulted Lt. Robert Taylor (who has experience with LODD determination), and then presented his findings to the DFFM board. David and DFFM President Trixie Lohrke then presented the information to DFD who agreed that John Wesley Turner should be added to the department roster of LODDs. Today Mr. Turner's name was sandblasted onto the memorial at the Training Center.
