DOCENT
The Dallas Firefighter’s Museum is seeking applicants for a part-time paid Docent position at the museum. The
museum is a non-profit organization housed in fire station No. 5 which was built in 1907 and is located at 3801
Parry Ave, Dallas, TX 75226. Currently the museum averages 4,000 visitors annually with over half being
children. We are open 9 – 4 Wednesday through Saturday.
Job Requirements

Familiarity with the fire service is important, so preference may be given to firefighters (either active
-
duty or retired).

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Clean criminal record
Not Required, But Helpful

Familiar with office technology including:
-
Computer (Windows operating system)
-
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
-
Use of Email
-
-
Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities
-
Open and then secure the museum during your tour of duty
-
Greet guests and give tours
-
Record information in the Captain’s Log
-
Communicate and coordinate daily with the manager (Mary) by phone or email

Light cleaning at the end of the day to prepare for opening the next day

Assist with special events
