Digital Archiving Comes to the Dallas Firefighter's Museum

A very big thank you to Stars Information Solutions for their generation $6,000 donation to the museum in equipment.

On a brisk Friday morning on November 22nd the Dallas Firefighter Museum had a visit from the Stars Information Solutions company with a generous donation of a ScanPro. This equipment will allow our museum volunteer archivists to digitize our Dallas Firefighter’s photos, microfiche, and other forms of photography into our newly established digital archives.

Our volunteer archivist’s Chuck Hampton and Dan DeYear were trained on the new equipment by Evan Granato with Stars. The team will start to scan and archive all the records available at the museum dating back to as early as 1907 when the museum was operating as an active fire station.

These archives are presently only available internally, but the museum’s goal is to grow this archive to be available at the museum and online for historical, education, and research purposes.

"The ability to scan the photos and film archives of the museum will allow us to capture history, record details, and preserve for future generations." Chuck Hampton, Board Member
